Sooo Funny!!

So Monday night I did a FHE lesson on having order in the home. I talked about how parents and kids have certain responsibilities. So one of the responsibilities that I talked about was that the parents need to be a good example to the kids.
So I come home from work yesterday and Shane tells me about a conversation that he had with Dylan. I can't even remember what they were doing, but Shane swore...DAMN. Dylan turns to him and tells him that he needs to be a better example to him. I thought that was the funniest thing. I just love how honest kids are. :)

Dylan & Dallas -- Football 2009

DALLAS - #34

Dallas has been loving football this year. He is one of the receivers for the team. He made an awesome catch in one of the games...brings tears to my eyes that my boys are this old. :) Dallas has been very dedicated to football this year and never complaining about the practices or the running. He is a great kid!!

DYLAN - #44
Dylan has also been loving football. Although, he is the one that complains about having to run at practice. I think I would too. He has been working very hard this year. He has been playing Defensive End on starting Defense. He has been doing awesome. In the last game, he had many awesome tackles. He did such a great job that they named him Dominator of the game. So he gets to wear that jersey to practice for the next week. He came home yesterday so excited because they are putting him in as Tight End on the Offense.

#44 on the end

Having twins playing on the same team can be a bit of a struggle with competition. Dylan is a lot more aggressive than Dallas and gets a lot more playing time. It doesn't seem to affect Dallas and he is very happy for his brother. But it can be very hard as a parent to make sure that you are congratulating both. It made me sad when at the end of the last game, one of their team mates came up to Dallas and said, "Good job Rodabough!" Well Dallas knew that he meant to do that to Dylan and said, "It's not me...I'm Dallas." Dallas takes it like a champ. It doesn't seem to bother him. But I know that if the tables were turned and Dallas was playing more than Dylan....Dylan would have a hard time with it. They have totally different personalities...so crazy..but they are the greatest boys!!

I have been a bad blogger lately...so here is catch up!

Pumpkin carving and Cookie decorating

Dylan & Dallas's 10th Birthday - Family Party

We had Dylan and Dallas's family Birthday party on Sunday. We gave them their PowerWings and we had given them their new baseball helmets last week so that they could wear them before their baseball season ended.
They chose to have dutch oven peach cobbler for their dessert instead of cake.

Dallas

Dylan's helmet had a skull and bat cross-bones with his name in flames.

Dallas's helmet said FEAR THIS with blue lightning and his name on the back.

Dylan & Dallas - Cubs Baseball

This is Dylan and Dallas's first year of the (kid pitch) Minor Leagues. It is literally a whole new ball game for them. They are doing a great job. The game seems to be all about stealing bases. It is pretty fun to watch.

Dallas has pitched in 2 of their games, and Dylan in 1 of their games. Dallas normally plays Short Stop and Dylan moves around from 3rd base, Left or Center Field. Although he played Catcher in this last game. They are both doing a great job fielding. Dylan is a great little hitter. Dallas is too, although he got hit by a ball and is scared, and now jumping out the box everytime the ball is pitched. We are trying to help him overcome that fear.

The tooth fairy has been busy!!

So Dylan, Dallas, and Tyler all had loose teeth. Dylan and Dallas both pulled theirs out on the same night. Tyler's was very loose and we are trying to talk him into letting us pull it out that same night. We were trying to tell him how cool it would be to have the tooth fairy come visit all 3 of them on the same night. But he just wouldn't do it. Dylan and Dallas both lost the same tooth just on different sides of their mouth.

So a couple days later at church, Tyler kept playing with his tooth. It was so loose that he could push it back and forth with his tongue. He asked to go get a drink and a couple minutes later came running back into sacrament meeting whispering a yell (yes he was trying to be quiet but had a hard time disguising his excitement) "I pulled out my tooth!!"

I decided to have my boys write their Christmas lists so that Shane and I can start shopping. Shane and I were pretty entertained not only by some of the things that they were asking for, but by the spelling of them. So we thought we would share the entertainment.

So I am typing exactly what they have written including spelling and will translate on the items that may need translating.

Championship Game

Dylan

Dallas

Today was Dylan & Dallas's Championship game. They were playing against the PG Vikings. They were so excited to play. We knew that it was going to be a good game. It started off pretty well and we scored first. 7 - 0

After the first half, they scored a touchdown, but missed their extra point. So the score was 7-6. This is exactly what had happened in the season game that we played against them. Well in the last quarter, the Vikings scored another touchdown, putting the score at 13-7. The Vikings won.

It was such a sad site to see all these 4th grade boys in tears. It brought tears to my eyes. They had worked so hard for the last 3 months having gone undefeated all season....having already beat this same team...to now lose the championship. I stood there watching the awards ceremony as all the boys went up to get their medal. Most all the boys were crying. Dylan & Dallas's coaches are pretty awesome. When they were giving the medals to PG, our coaches were telling the boys to clap and cheer for their team because they had done well and earned it. What great examples their coaches are to those boys.

After the game, the coaches told them how proud they were of them and they loved them. It was such a sad but sweet moment. It was hard for me not to start crying as I was hugging my crying boys telling them how great they had played. They learned so much. I am very proud of them with how hard they worked this year.

Fabulous Football!!

Dylan #43
Doesn't he look so old...can't believe he is only 9
Dallas #32
Look at that cute smile!!
I am going to have to watch out for the girls, as I am already hearing about all the ones that he likes.

So Dylan and Dallas's football team is undefeated. They won all 8 season games. They were ranked #1. So last Saturday, they had their first play-off game against another Lone Peak team (ranked #4) coached by Coach Freeman. Needless to say, they kicked butt and won. It was a good game!! Pleasant Gove (#2) played American Fork #3 and PG won. So they will be playing Pleasant Grove this Saturday in the championship game.
Both our team and PG were undefeated until we played them during the season and we ended up winning 7-6. So it will definitely be a good game!!
